Seven years ago, my nephew Jake was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and had major surgery at only four weeks old. Today he is a happy, healthy seven-year-old. He’s a fighter, and he’s my inspiration.
Seven years ago I weighed over 250 lbs. and couldn\’t run more than a few blocks without feeling like I was dying. This weekend I will run an 8k. I run because I can, and most of all I run for Jake.
