This year, I’m running a half marathon to raise awareness for CHD—especially in honor of one of the bravest little girls I know, Miss Kippy Shea!
Congenital heart disease (CHD) is the most common birth defect and the leading cause of birth-defect-related deaths, affecting 1 in 100 babies. Each year, more children lose their lives to CHD than all forms of pediatric cancer combined. Yet, despite its prevalence, there is still no cure for any of the 40 known types of congenital heart defects, and much remains unknown about their causes.
This year, I’m running a half marathon to raise awareness for CHD—especially in honor of one of the bravest little girls I know, Miss Kippy Shea!
Kippy was born in June 2022 with three holes in her heart—Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Atrial Septal Defect (ASD), and Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). At just four months old, she underwent open-heart surgery at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Thanks to her amazing medical team and the love and support of those around her, Kippy has received the “all clear” from her cardiologist!
But thousands of other children and families are still fighting this battle. That’s why I’m running—to help raise funds, awareness, and hope for those impacted by CHD.
Every dollar makes a difference. Whether it’s $5, $50, or simply sharing this campaign, your support directly helps fund life-saving research and care.
All donations through Big Hearts to Little Hearts go directly to CHOP, including Kippy’s own surgeon, to support groundbreaking research and improve treatment for future heart warriors.
Join me in the fight against CHD! Together, we can help more children receive the care they need and bring hope to families on this journey.
