Maximilian

Why am I running? I’m running because Maximilian is a Lego-loving 7 year old who was born with Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). I’m running because we are so grateful for the advances in CHD that enabled him to have a life-saving heart surgery at two days old that saved his life. I’m running because every dollar raised gets us one step closer to making futures for kids like Maximilian even better. Thank you for your support!

This picture of Max shows him with his monkeys.  Max’s nursery was decked out in sock monkeys before he was born. When he arrived and we were told he needed immediate heart surgery, of course, we were heartbroken. We took what monkeys we could, bought some more, and decorated his hospital space with sock monkeys. As he grew up, Max became very attached to his sock monkeys and his collection is his prized possession.  In honor of Max, every year on his birthday our family donates sock monkeys to the children at the CHOP Cardiac Center.  We share his story with those families and we send each monkey off filled with hope and love to get those children home safely and happily.
