Philadelphia Marathon Waiver
NON-TRANSFERABLE WAIVER: Please read completely and sign.
In submitting my entry for participation in the Philadelphia Marathon, Half Marathon, Rothman Institute 8K, or Kids Fun Run and the Health & Fitness Expo (“Marathon Activities”), I, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators, waive and release any and all rights and claims for damages I may have now or hereafter, arising against the City of Philadelphia, Fund for Philadelphia, I Am Athlete, LLC, USATF, Pennsylvania Convention Center, Rothman Institute, all sponsors, and each of their employees, officers, directors, principals, agents, representatives, volunteers, contractors, successors, and assigns (the “Released Parties”), including but not limited to any and all claims of damages, injuries, demands, actions, whatsoever, however they may occur, arising as a result of my participation in said Marathon Activities. I acknowledge that I am aware of the inherent risks in participating in an athletic event of this type. I attest and verify that I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained for the completion of the Marathon Activities and my physical condition has been verified by a licensed medical doctor. I also acknowledge that I will present medically-certified proof of disability or readiness for the Marathon Activities upon request, to the Released Parties. Furthermore, I hereby grant full permission to any and all of the foregoing to use my name, my voice, and/or my picture in any broadcast, telecast, advertising, promotion or other account of the Marathon Activities for any purposes whatsoever.
I grant the Philadelphia Marathon and its designated staff and medical providers access to my medical records and physicians, as well as any other information relating to medical care, my medical condition and medical treatment received as a result of my participation in the Marathon Activities.
I understand that the entry fee is nonrefundable and that bib numbers are nontransferable.
SPECIAL RULES OF THE COURSE:
Only runners, walkers, push rim and approved hand-cycle (exhibition only) wheelchairs will be allowed on the course. No wheeled vehicles are allowed other than wheelchairs. The term “wheelchair” as used in this entry, shall mean push-rim or approved hand-cycle (exhibition only) wheelchairs only. Wheelchair competitors must wear helmets. All wheelchairs must be equipped with brakes and fluorescent (orange preferred) flags on either side of the chair at 5’ high (adult eye level) and adhere to all posted speed restrictions on certain areas of the course. All participants, regardless of mode, must maintain a 16-minute per mile or less pace at all times. That means that 3½ hours after the last person crosses the start line, marathon participants must have reached the 13.1 mile mark or they will not be allowed to proceed in the full marathon. Participants going backwards, bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, roller skates or inline skates and animals are not allowed in the event or along the course. Participants are not allowed to walk, run, or ride more than two (2) abreast so as not to impede others who may want to pass along the course or at the finish line. The Released Parties strongly discourage the use of personal audio devices (i.e., iPods and MP3 headsets, etc.).
It is the intent of the Released Parties to furnish the safest possible race course. Those who violate any of these rules may, at the sole discretion of the Released Parties, be disqualified and removed from the course.
***Children under 18 may be required to provide proof of age.
ROTHMAN INSTITUTE 8K REGISTRANTS ONLY: I understand that the Rothman Institute 8k will be held on Saturday, November 19th. Race packets must be picked up on Friday, November 18th from noon to 9PM at the Health & Fitness Expo being held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
I understand and accept the above Waiver and Rules. I certify that the information provided by me to the Released Parties is true and accurate.
