Ever since we were diagnosed with a severe and rare congenital heart defect for our 22 week in utero baby, our world dramatically changed forever. Fast forward 3+ years and here we are… Our son, Joseph David, is living his best life! And we are there to enjoy the ride. Although we are waiting for his third open heart surgery (the Fontan) to be rescheduled, it has yet to slow him down. We have the cardiac thoracic surgeons, catheterization doctors, cardiac nurses, the cardiac intensive care unit attendings, residents and staff at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to thank for him! We share our utmost gratitude for saving sweet Joey’s life and continuing to provide the best care for his unique single ventricle lifestyle.
